Cold Forge Joins Queensland Rail Showcase of Project i-Trace in Action
Cold Forge Products was proud to join our longstanding client Queensland Rail, alongside GS1 Australia, for a live demonstration of Project i-Trace at the Sunshine IML warehouse in Brisbane. The event showcased the practical benefits of GS1 standards and mobile inventory management via Queensland Rail’s impressive solution.
Led by Inventory Planning Manager Kirsty Nielsen, with support from Reanna Martin and Reka Markos, the team demonstrated live workflows in picking, issuing, and stocktaking—each powered by barcoding and mobile technology. As Kirsty noted, “Project i-Trace is about more than barcodes – it's about industry-wide uplift in inventory accuracy, efficiency, and smarter ways of working.”
The Queensland Rail team brought impressive energy and insight to the day, clearly highlighting how these improvements enhance both the workplace experience and overall business outcomes.
The ongoing support and presence of GS1 Australia leaders Bonnie Ryan, Tony Repaci, and Dimi Pachiyannis played a vital role in the success of the day and in continuing to drive digital transformation across Australia’s rail supply chains.
Cold Forge has proudly supported Project i-Trace since its inception eight years ago. Our Managing Director, Andrew Carroll, who also chairs the Project i-Trace User Group, hosted the User Group meeting following the tour—bringing together suppliers and stakeholders to address challenges and support smoother implementation.
This collaboration continues to demonstrate the power of shared goals in raising quality, traceability, and service outcomes across the rail industry.
